As is evident from my last post, and the lack of posts thereafter, my foray into the Math Twitter Blogosphere never really got off the ground. Not even high enough to crash and burn. I would like to make blogging part of my life so with that in mind; I signed up for Boise State’s EdTech 537: Blogging in the Classroom. My plan is to use this blog to showcase and reflect on the learning happening in my self-contained math classes. I have taught Algebra in both self-contained and inclusive settings for over ten years. Next year I am picking up Math 8, also self-contained. Middle school is all new territory for me, and blogging will force me to reflect on how things are going, and allow for feedback from a public audience. I have learned so much and found so many exciting ideas from the blogs I follow; maybe I can help inspire someone else. It definitely takes a village! I see this class as a huge positive step forward for me, and I am anxious to dig into it. The fact that Twitter is incorporated into 537 makes it even better. Let’s do this!

  1. Lisa, glad to have you along for this journey. Hopefully the next seven weeks will allow you to develop the habits that will allow you to continue blogging come September… 🙂

I have great ideas for how a social studies or English teacher might use blogs in their classroom. I have no idea how to begin thinking about possibilities about blogs in the Algebra class. Let me know if you have ideas!
